Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Mississippi! The University is an R-1 (very high research) institution of higher learning, a place where graduate education is greatly valued and supported. From chemistry to second language studies to music to psychology, the College of Liberal Arts is proud to house graduate programs that span the fine & performing arts, humanities, natural sciences & mathematics, social sciences. Students in our graduate programs are taught by and work with the country’s leading experts in many disciplines. Our graduate programs prepare students for careers in research, teaching, the arts, higher education, business and government, providing them with the knowledge and skills that are needed to be successful in their future careers.

The College of Liberal Arts is home to no fewer than 36 programs in graduate studies. These include 12 doctoral degree programs and 24 master’s degree programs, as listed below. Currently, 370 students are pursuing doctoral degrees, and 200 are studying in our master’s degree programs. During the past decade, the College has seen significant increases in a number of areas, including total enrollment in its Ph.D. programs (nearly 40%), women in doctoral programs (36%) and number of minority students (81%).
