CLA Travel Policies

Important Update:

The Dean's Office will no longer be processing domestic travel authorizations. Departments can now submit domestic travel for faculty and staff directly to travel in the Office of Procurement Services.

There are two exceptions:

  1. International travel must still be submitted to Mrs. Tajuana Redmond Jackson in the Dean's Office for approval and routing to UM's Research Security Officer.
  2. For Chair/Director travel, please submit requests to Mrs. Tajuana Redmond Jackson, who will review and sign on the Dean's behalf.

The College of Liberal Arts invites you to share documentation of your experiences abroad and domestically—conducting research in the field, pursuing creative work, studying or teaching. Do follow all travel procurement guidelines.

 


The Don'ts

  • No handwritten Travel Authorizations. These are official state documents.
  • Scan and email all travel documents. Do not send packets through campus mail.
  • Hold the original documents in a safe space for seven years.
  • Do not send multiple attachments in an email. Create a single packet per trip.
  • Chairs/Directors only sign as the traveler when submitting for themselves. Chairs and Directors do not approve their own travel.

International Travel for December, January and February should be submitted on or before November 16.

U.S. Capitol Tour

As part of the POL 398: Sports, Law, and Politics course, students visited the capitol and received a tour led by University of Mississippi student, Mattie Beauchamp. This Study USA course was taught on location in Washington, D.C. by Dr. Marvin King, Associate Professor of Political Science & African American Studies.

The class visited BGR group, a lobbying firm established by former Mississippi governor, Haley Barbour.

Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) Annual Convention

Dr. Kate Kellum, Instructional Professor of Psychology, Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Assistant Chair. led the Study USA course, PSY 399 / PSY 717. During this course, student attended the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) Annual Convention in San Francisco — the largest gathering of behavior analysts in the world.
