Assisting Undergraduates: Specialty Advising & Scholarships

The CLA manages offices and programs that support student success and post-graduate preparation, such as the Health Professions Advising Office, Pre-Law Advising Office, FASTrack Learning Community for freshmen, and the Writing and Speaking Centers. In addition to advising, scholarships can help students complete their degrees and pursue their dreams.

Graduate Stipends: Attracting Top Talent

CLA graduate programs boost faculty research and creative accomplishments while also providing support for undergraduate instruction. This work advances the university's national status as an R1 institution. Private support to supplement CLA graduate stipends helps attract top applicants by providing more competitive offers. This supports students to better focus on their research, scholarship, and creative work while also completing their coursework.

Facilities: Spaces for Creativity and Innovation

Spaces are essential for teaching, learning, researching, and creating, all of which are foundations for excellence. The CLA is housed in 33 different buildings with more than 100 teaching spaces, some of which need re-imagined, refreshed designs and new technology to propel student success. Philanthropic support will ensure that faculty have access to the best resources to teach and inspire innovation, while students are provided with the tools, resources, and experiences they need to launch successful careers.

Access and Strategic Initiatives

As the flagship liberal arts university in Mississippi, UM has a responsibility to make its programs accessible to all students. The College must give its students the skills necessary to drive innovative problem-solving in Mississippi communities, the nation and the world. With private support, the College can create a vibrant environment of learning and discovery where students, faculty and staff are supported and can expect respect as they pursue their best work.
