Empowering the next generation.
Fueling Innovation and Creativity
Your support can strengthen the work of the College of Liberal Arts to prepare students for meaningful lives, increase our ability to attract and support outstanding faculty and students, fuel more innovative research, inspire creative achievements, modernize our facilities, and create access to education for all.
Private investment will help the CLA ensure that all students thrive as they begin their journey at UM. Our growth and success are critical benchmarks for the health of the university, and, by partnering with us, you can make an important difference in this effort.
Fundraising Priorities
Undergraduate Students
The College provides emergency scholarship assistance to undergraduate students. We also manage offices and programs that support student success and post-graduate preparation, such as the Health Professions Advising Office, Pre-Law Advising Office, FASTrack Learning Community (for freshmen), Grove Scholars (for Mississippi STEM students), and the Writing and Speaking Centers.
Graduate Students
CLA graduate programs boost faculty research and creative accomplishments and further our university's national status. These programs open more advanced career fields to the next generation. Private support for our graduate stipends help attract top applicants.
Faculty
Dedicated faculty share their knowledge with students and fuel a love of learning. They ignite a passion for making a difference while educating students for meaningful leadership in their work and lives. Private support can help us recruit and retain outstanding faculty.
Facilities
Spaces in which faculty teach and research/create, students learn and explore, and groups collaborate are essential foundations for excellence. The CLA is located in 33 different buildings with more than 100 teaching spaces, some of which need re-imagined, refreshed designs and new technology to propel student success.
Access and Strategic Initiatives
As the flagship liberal arts university in the state of Mississippi, we have a deep responsibility to effectively educate and train a diverse group of leaders and lifelong learners. We must give them the skills necessary to drive innovative problem-solving in Mississippi communities, the nation and the world. With private support, we can create a vibrant environment of learning and discovery where students, faculty and staff are supported and can expect respect and a sense of belonging as they pursue their best work.
