2019 Ceremony Instructions for Liberal Arts BACCALAUREATE Degree Candidates

College of Liberal Arts 2019 Baccalaureate Commencement Ceremony

Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 3:00 PM—The Pavilion

Seating Instructions

It will be necessary for you to be at the Pavilion floor by 2:15 PM in order to be seated for the ceremony which begins promptly at 3:00 PM.  You must be seated no later than 2:45 PM.  All degree candidates will be called to the stage by degree program, however, not in alphabetical order.  We anticipate the Liberal Arts ceremony will end no later than 4:45 PM.

If you need assistance, there will be signs and security personnel at various locations in the Pavilion.  There will also be information stands on the Pavilion floor.

Please enter the Pavilion from the main entrance and follow the stairs down to the Pavilion floor.  Only students participating in the ceremony will be allowed to enter the Pavilion floor.

During the Ceremony

  • Sit down as soon as you get to your chair on the Pavilion floor.
  • Seats must be filled front to back and seats cannot be skipped or saved.
  • Keep your card with you when you are called to the stage. Hand your card to the reader at the podium who will read your name from the card. If you have an unusual name, please tell the reader the correct pronunciation.
  • Graduates will stand up one row at a time to receive diploma covers. Liberal Arts staff will instruct your row when to stand up and walk to the stage.
  • Degree candidates WILL return to their seats after receiving their diploma. All candidates are required to remain seated for the entire ceremony. Students will not be allowed to leave the ceremony early.
  • Silence cell phones.
  • Indicate any secondary e-mail address on your reader card. Graduation picture information will be sent to this address on your card.
