Enjoy the rare experience of watching accomplished composer, producer, lyricist, book writer and performer Andrew Lippa work with singers on selections from his award winning musicals (The Addams Family, The Wild Party, John & Jen, Big Fish, A Little Princess). The evening will also include a performance by Lippa.
Living Music Resource (LMR) presents Broadway composer Andrew Lippa Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at 7:30 pm in Nutt Auditorium.
LMR is collaborating with the Departments of Music, Theatre, and the Sara Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies, as well as including Oxford High School and Germantown High School students and singers from the region. Coincidentally, Oxford and Germantown High Schools are presenting musicals by Andrew Lippa this Spring and a lead from Oxford will get to work with Lippa at the 7:30 PM event.
LMR will showcase students from the Departments of Music and Theatre, as well as singers from the region.
Andrew Lippa is an American born and classically trained composer, lyricist, book writer, performer and producer. Some of his Broadway show compositions include: Big Fish, The Addams Family and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. He has been music director for Kristin Chenoweth since 1999 (Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall; and has conducted the symphonies of San Francisco, Chicageo and St. Louis). He is an accomplished singer with credits at major performing venues and on prominent recording labels. Vocal Selections from his shows are published by Hal Leonard. Recently, the NYC première of his oratorio, I Am Harvey Milk, featuring Andrew Lippa, Kristin Chenoweth, the All-Star Broadway Men’s Chorus and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s received rave reviews.

I will host the event with nominated and award winning musician Andrew Lippa (Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Grammy and Tony Awards). Andrew will answer questions submitted ahead of time (via our Website and Facebook page), as well as real time questions from studio audience members and online via Twitter, Email and the Chat feature of the live stream. He will also give performance feedback to the videos of three selected singers from a national pool.

The site offers topic specific videos entries with experts in the field of music (composition, diction, singing, etc.) and presents a live streamed interactive interview series called the Beat. This ground breaking interactive interview series takes place in front of a live studio audience (Gertrude C. Ford Center in Oxford, MS) and welcomes real time questions/comments/participation via twitter, email or the live chat feature from anywhere in the world. These events have included viewers from over 15 states and four countries.
